At the moment Team SHIELD is looking for a Communications & Events officer to strengthen our team.
SHIELD vzw brings together healthcare, higher education and knowledge institutions to strengthen digital resilience through collaboration, knowledge sharing and community building. With more than 110 members, our community is growing fast.
We are looking for a Communications & Events Officer to help us tell our story, activate our community and organise impactful events.
Your role
As Communications & Events Officer, you will support SHIELD’s communication, community and event activities.
You will help ensure that our messages are clear, our events are well organised and our Hivebrite community platform becomes a central place for connection and knowledge sharing. All of this using our signature SHIELD style.
What you will do
As our Communications & Events Officer you will:
- Write and edit newsletters, member updates, event invitations and LinkedIn posts.
- Manage and develop SHIELD’s LinkedIn presence.
- Keep an eye on our public SHIELD website and make sure all relevant SHIELD information can be found there
- Support the further development of our Hivebrite community platform.
- Help onboard members and publish relevant content on the platform.
- Support the organisation of national and, where relevant, European events.
- Coordinate practical event details such as invitations, registration, logistics, speakers, planning, follow-up and evaluation.
- Work with colleagues, members, partners and external stakeholders.
- Help ensure that SHIELD’s communication and events are respectful, inclusive and accessible.
Your profile
You have a sweet spot for communication & event management and communicate clearly, organise carefully and enjoy bringing people together.
You have:
- Fluency in Dutch and French (a must).
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Good writing skills for newsletters, social media and stakeholder communication.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- A practical, hands-on mindset.
- An interest in community building, events and digital platforms.
- A willingness to learn new tools and work with platforms such as LinkedIn, mailing tools, Microsoft 365, Canva and Hivebrite.
- Experience with LinkedIn content planning, Hivebrite or another community platform, professional events, non-profit organisations or European projects is a plus.
